Home Lighting & Home Technology Trends At The Eltefa 2017 In Stuttgart
The eltefa is the biggest national trade fair of the electrical industry. We attended this fair in Stuttgart and would like to present to you some highlights regarding home lighting and building technology by Philips, Rutec, EVN, Merten, Brumberg, illumina and Steinel. Once again, the E-home shows what home network may look like in the future.
The eltefa (March 29-31, 2017) is the largest national trade fair of the electrical industry. Every other year, the Stuttgart fair presents numerous innovations and developments in the field of electrical engineering and electronics. The trade fair is a popular venue for electricians, designers, suppliers of the electrical industry, traders, and renowned manufacturers.
We, too, attended the eltefa this year and visited a large number of booths, especially in the field of home lighting and building technology.
Philips SceneSwitch LED Lamps –Dimming without a Dimmer
At the Philips booth you could discover the new SceneSwitch LED lamps. SceneSwitch combines three different luminous colors in one lamp – entirely without a dimmer. With the normal light switch, you can select brightness levels of 100%, 40% and 10% by touching it several times. SceneSwitch is equipped with a memory function and can therefore save the last light setting you used. There are three available models of the Scene Switch lamp: E27, E14, and GU10. The lamp has a service life of approx. 15,000 hours.
Rutec – Flexible LED Light Strip with Amazing Lighting Effects
One real eyecatcher at the eltefa was the VARDflex neon RGBW Intelligence Eight by Rutec. The flexible LED light strip provides beautiful lighting effects which can be set via a touch panel. Color, brightness and lighting effects can be adjusted as required. The LED light strip is suitable for indoor use, e.g. to highlight a bar or a counter, as well as outdoor areas, e.g. for a swimming pool.
EVN – A Large and Flexible Range of Colors in One Lamp
Everyone knows the situation. It is hard to tell which light color is the best choice for your home. EVN has now developed a surface-mounted luminaire with integrated switch in its interior. Thanks to this integrated switch, you can choose between three different light colors: warm white (3,000 Kelvin), neutral white (4,200 Kelvin) and daylight (5,700 Kelvin). The LED ceiling luminaire is available with two different wattages: 18 and 25 Watt.
Merten – New Pluslink Button Units with Bluetooth Technology
Merten by Schneider Electric presented the push switch program “System Design”. It combines clear shapes and well-known functions. This includes dimmers, temperature controls and time switches as well as new button units equipped with Bluetooth technology. They turn smartphones and tablets into convenient remote controls for home lighting and blinds. There are no limits to designing impressive room concepts with this technology. The new button unit, which is also available as part of the M System, communicates via Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). And the BLE-App is a real all-round talent when it comes to programming button modules. Your electrician can easily and quickly transfer the settings from one button module to other switches in the entire building and may use mobile devices for this purpose. The PlusLink functions, of course, can also be controlled by pressing a switch.
Brumberg – A Good Feeling with Brumberg Home Lighting
Brumberg’s luminaires plunge your home into a magic light. Several LED spots and LED wall recessed-luminaires were presented at the booth. The recessed luminaires “dim2warm” make your home an even more comfortable place. Dimming the light now not only lowers the luminous intensity, but also adjusts the color temperature.
vitaLED®smart by Brumberg is a dynamic 4-channel color light system. You only need a power supply, a Bluetooth distributor, a connecting cable and lamps for its installation. Therefore the system’s workload is not higher than installing a classic low-voltage lighting system. vitaLED®smart is controlled conveniently via smartphone or tablet and the corresponding App. A special feature of this app is the possiblity to upload your own pictures. If you touch a certain point on the picture, e.g. the red of the sky, the lighting system provides this exact shade of color in your room.
illumina – Home Lighting with a Special Design
Vintage-design outdoor luminaires from the product series CABIN by Astro were a highlight at the illumina booth. The luminaires are a great design choice for brick homes but can also excellently be used in modern homes. Besides exterior luminaires and luminaires for bathrooms illumina also showed the beautifully shaped indoor wall luminaire EDGE.
Steinel – Sensor Technology for Any Purpose & Member of eNet Smart Home
Steinel professional presented numerous different sensor luminaires for indoor as well as for outdoor use. There were 2 highlights: the RS Pro LED Q1 – awarded for its design – and the motion detector iHF 3 D. RS Pro LED Q1 is especially suitable for hallways, e.g. in public buildings etc. The motion detector iHF 3 D is the optimal solution for outdoors. The intelligent high frequency sensor can tell whether it is actually detecting movements of a human being or just some branches of a bush.
Furthermore, Steinel is a member of the eNet SMART HOME, an alliance of renowned manufacturers, such as Bachmann, Brumberg, Gira, Jung, Steinel, and tado. The cooperation’s aim is to establish a future-proof system standard for smart homes. The goal is that all functions of a household, such as lighting, heating, and blinds, can be controlled by a single App.
E-Home – The Future of the Smart Home?
The E-home clearly demonstrates for everyone what “home network” means and on which technologies it is based. For example, the kitchen was equipped with a refrigerator with 2 integrated cameras. It displayed the status before and after opening the door. On a touch panel, you could see the current contents of the refrigerator and the contents at an earlier date. In addition, it was possible to search for suitable recipes with the help of the corresponding app. No matter what you are looking for – safety, energy efficiency, building communication – the E-home is an enrichment for any event. It displays examples of technology that are visionary today, but which may become standard applications in the future.
The developments in the electrical industry continue to be fascinating and we are curious about the short and long-term innovations manufacturers will present in the fields of home lighting and building technology.
