Numerous Innovations at the belektro 2016
“Energized Berlin” – this was the slogan of 2016’s belektro, the most important platform for the electronics electrical and lighting industries in the region, which is also well-known beyond the borders of Berlin and Brandenburg. The trade fair, which took place in October 2016, revolved around the subject of intelligent home automation – aka Smart Home – including current trends and developments.
Smartphones as control centers
While smartphones are still on the rise and are very much becoming an integral part of our day-to-day lives, increasingly more smart home technology is being developed which can be controlled from anywhere via smartphone apps. The exhibitors at the belektro 2016 had various products and applications on display to illustrate their portfolios in this segment. We would like to present some of these products here.
E3 – Gira’s new switch range
Gira’s new switch range features round and soft shapes and either glossy or silk-matte surfaces in 9 subtle colors, which perfectly match any environment. The different covers and inserts can be combined to create numerous looks. With the suitable Gira System 55 modules you can benefit from the entire available range of intelligent building technology: All in all, more than 300 System functions can be integrated into the switch range E3 – for more comfort, security, and efficiency. From simple switches and sockets to audio systems, door intercoms and even entire smart home systems.
LS Zero by Albrecht Jung
Totally flush-mounted – this is what manufacturer Albrecht Jung say about their LS ZERO switches. They blend seamlessly into the surface and create numerous new and innovative possibilities for interior design – for brickwork and drywalls as well as installation into furniture. LS ZERO relies on the design constants of the classic LS 990 range. The products can be installed fully flush and therefore blend very harmonically into brick and cavity walls. No special equipment is required – ordinary electrical boxes are sufficient. With the help of a special flush mounting adapter, both a perfect fit and adhesion are guaranteed.
Convenient and simple handling via App – Paulmann’s new lighting control
The Paulmann Licht GmbH presented their new smart home lighting control at the belektro 2016. The system can be controlled via a smartphone app that makes it possible to send bluetooth signals to all electric light sources in a flat or house. The technology works without complicated installation or special programming. Depending on the type of lamp, you can select numerous effects beyond the basic “on/off” function. Many of Paulmann’s products can be steplessly dimmed, allow adjustment of the light temperature from cold to warm and the respective RGB(W) products even allow the selection of 16 million color nuances. For those who would rather not use a smartphone, an optional remote control is available that you can use to control these functions.
Philips master LEDtube – best light, lower energy consumption
The Philips Lighting GmbH has added a clever LED solution to its product range. The Master LEDtube UO (UO = Ultra Output), which is 1,500 mm long and has 25 W, outputs 3,700 lm – the highest luminous flux there is at the moment. The main fields of applications for the LEDtube are industrial, trade, and other business. It offers substantial energy savings compared to conventional T8 fluorescent lamps without cutting back on luminosity. The portfolio includes two additional models: SO (Standard Output) with up to 2,000 lm as well as HO (High Output) with 3,100 lm.
Smartphone controled home automation technology by Somfy
Connexoon is Somfy’s new and simple entry-level home automation solution. It is a bi-directional io control for windows, patio and front doors, and entire living areas. It can be used with the help of an app and works via a sensor or time-switch technology. The core component of Connexoon is a digital box which transmits commands to each lighting element, drive, or other connected loads. You can also program individual scenes for your home and activate these from anywhere via your smartphone. The system allows for additional applications to be added without the need for additional control lines.
Lighting control for a wonderful ambiente – the universal dimmer DIMAX 544plus
The universal dimmer DIMAX 544plus by Theben AG was developed specifically for LED lamps. It allows programming with the help of a free Android app and transmission to the device via NFC. This way, you can conveniently create individual lighting scenes in your home – for different moods and various occasions. In addition, the device lets you control brightness and LED characteristics, but also ventilation, staircase lighting, standby or wakeup modes. Due to its short NFC range – also for dimmers that are not built in – DIMAX 544plus offers additional protection against manipulation. The device can also be programmed directly with the help of a screw driver.
The news presented here are essentially directed at consumers and show a an overview of the belektro 2016’s main focuses – intelligent building control and energy efficiency. These devices add to the trend that home automation is becoming increasingly more affordable.
